Project: Science Communication

Brad was our inaugural foundation intern! He wrote 18 ‘Research Explained’ summaries and helped describe current grants for our webpage. Brad is a doctoral student in biomedical sciences at Vanderbilt University with a diverse background spanning ecology, neuroscience, and cancer biology. Currently, his research focuses on improving the early detection of cancer through the implementation of blood-based screening tests in the lab of Dr. Ben Ho Park. Brad brings invaluable experience in rare disease research and advocacy, having previously worked with the DADA2 Foundation, contributing to the development of a clinical consensus statement for Deficiency of Adenosine DeAminase 2 (DADA2). His work involved collaborating with 35 doctors from 18 countries, aiming to provide a comprehensive resource for patients and medical professionals. Brad also studied Gaucher disease at the National Human Genome Research Institute, investigating the molecular basis for the disease's various manifestations. When he's not advancing scientific knowledge, Brad enjoys hiking, video games, and learning Spanish.
