Caroline is a PhD student in the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology at Vanderbilt University. Caroline has been committed to using iPSC models to study neurological diseases for 8+ years. Her current thesis project in Dr. Vivian Gama’s lab focuses on examining the effects of peroxisomal dynamics on cell fate decisions during neurodevelopment in the context of Zellweger spectrum disorders, a family of rare, genetic, multi-system disorders. Caroline is an advocate for effectively communicating scientific information, as well as for increasing visibility and research of rare diseases. Outside of research, Caroline enjoys reading, playing board games, and petting her cat.
